Taste Lancashire 08 – The Year of Food & Drink

Lancashire celebrates great local produce during 2008, in partnership with Liverpool’s European Capital of Culture celebrations, and we are delighted to be an official partner.

Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board is co-ordinating `Taste Lancashire 08`, a wide range of events and promotions including championing up and coming young chefs and raising the quality of eateries in the area. Loyd Grossman is the Patron of Taste Lancashire 08.

Lancashire is renowned for its Morecambe Bay potted shrimps, Lancashire cheese, Lancashire hotpot, Goosnargh chicken, lamb and beef from Bowland and drinks including Sarsaparilla.

Many of the events are in partnership with local produce champions Made in Lancashire and North West Fine Food, as well as Liverpool's fine eateries. Liverpool representatives are expected at farmers’ markets in Lancashire and at many of the existing and well-supported food festivals including:

·               Northcote Manor Festival of Food & Wine (January)

·               Taste Lancashire and the Lancashire Food and Drink Festival (April)

·               nwfinefood  Lovers Festival for Lancashire at Stonyhurst (August)

·               Pennine Lancashire Festival of Food and Culture (September)

·               Garstang and Bowland Banquet (October)

Lancashire’s reputation for its range of produce is not surprising considering the county has two areas of outstanding natural beauty - the Forest of Bowland and Arnside and Silverdale, not to mention the West Pennine Moors and 137 miles of coastline including the world famous resort of Blackpool.

Taste Lancashire 08 was launched in October 2007 in Garstang when the world’s biggest Lancashire hotpot was created for the Guinness World Records.
